  • Summer Camp: Day 2, The Performing Arts

Today the campers are well on their way to finding that “performer” inside.  If you see a Hearts for Hearing camper you might hear them break out in song! We visited the recording studio of Jami Smith, local recording artist. The children enjoyed singing and recording a production with Jami. We look forward to hearing the results of their creation.

  • Brr..It's Cold Outside

Winter is a wonderful time to talk about bundling up for the freezing weather.  You have to remember to put on your coat, mittens and hat before you go outside. Have you contrasted winter clothes and summer clothes?

Take this opportunity to focus on daily routines with your toddler.  Let them help you do the dishes on night after dinner.  Talk about the HOT and COLD water.

Here's a fun game to try at home...Gather small learning to listen toys, popsicle sticks and ice trays.  Put the toys in the ice trays with the popsicle stick and fill with water. Once it's frozen you and your toddler can explore ways to melt the ice and find the treasure inside. Try hot water, a hot water bottle, or maybe a hair dryer.  Don't forget to make the activity about listening...use audition first and lots of rich language.

    Happy Melting!

    Ms. Krissa
