- If no hearing loss is diagnosed, follow the pediatric audiologist’s recommendations.
- If hearing loss is diagnosed the Listening Journey begins. At this initial appointment you can expect:
- The pediatric audiologist will guide you in learning about your child’s hearing loss and your options.
- Hearing aids will be recommended. These are expensive but don’t worry. Hearts for Hearing provides the first set of hearing aids for children in Oklahoma with significant bilateral hearing loss under the age of five years.
- Earmold impressions will be made.
- You and your child will be scheduled for a hearing aid fitting appointment.
- At the hearing aid fitting, auditory-verbal therapy begins for families choosing a listening and spoken language outcome.
